Scripps Health patients insured through Anthem Blue Cross can sigh relief: The two organizations have agreed to extend their contract, ensuring continued in-network access to care at Scripps hospitals and clinics.
The new multi-year agreement comes after months of negotiations and stabilizes thousands of patients who rely on Scripps for medical services. The extension covers all Scripps hospitals and affiliated physicians, preserving uninterrupted access to care for Anthem members.
“We are pleased to reach an agreement that protects our patients’ access to the trusted care they expect from Scripps,” the health system said. “This agreement reflects our shared commitment to ensuring quality care remains accessible and sustainable.”
The contract extension follows concerns earlier this year that Scripps might exit Anthem’s network, potentially disrupting care for many in the region. With the new agreement in place, Scripps reaffirms its position as a cornerstone of health care in San Diego County.
