Scripps Health hospitals stand out again for their commitment to patient safety, according to the latest hospital safety grades released by The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2025.
In the new report, multiple Scripps Health hospitals earned high marks, with Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas each receiving an “A” safety grade, the highest rating. These grades reflect top performance in preventing medical errors, infections, and accidents—key hospital safety and quality indicators.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a national distinction that evaluates hospitals on more than 30 performance measures developed by experts in patient safety. Grades are updated twice a year and aim to empower patients to make informed decisions about where they receive care.
Scripps’ strong showing comes amid a broader national trend: While safety grades remained stable across much of the country, only 29% of U.S. hospitals earned an “A” in this cycle. Scripps’ performance places it well ahead of the curve in ensuring high-quality care and patient protection.
