Becker's Hospital Review recently featured the orthopedic departments of 50 hospitals and health systems across the U.S. "dedicated to expanding their orthopedic services and innovating in the space." Nominated and selected for the list are both Scripps and Rady Children's Hospital.

Becker’s identifies the hospitals and health systems in the list as dedicated to expanding their orthopedic services and innovation in the space.

The Scripps health system is currently ranked at No. 13 for orthopedic care by the U.S. News & World Report for 2022-23, and its hospitals have gained the "Blue Distinction Center" designation from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Scripps Clinic's Shiley Center for Orthopaedic Research and Education runs both privately and publicly funded clinical trials that allow patients to access the newest therapies and devices.

Rady Children's Hospital is a leader in spinal growth tethering surgery, an advanced procedure that helps correct scoliosis, and has received national recognition for its clinical research. Its five clinical research centers include spinal deformities, pediatric hip disorders, trauma, sports and orthopedic outcomes. In addition, the institute was the first in the nation to both implant magnetic growing rods in scoliosis patients and to install a groundbreaking orthopedic imaging system that exposes patients to significantly less radiation than standard X-rays.
