Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla is poised to unveil its transformative North Tower on June 1, marking a significant advancement in regional healthcare. This $664 million, eight-story facility spans over 430,000 square feet and introduces 188 private inpatient rooms, designed to enhance patient comfort and care efficiency.

A key highlight of the North Tower is its comprehensive women’s center, occupying three dedicated floors. This center features private birthing suites—six of which are equipped with labor tubs—alongside antepartum rooms, operating suites, and a family waiting area with an outdoor patio. The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), developed in collaboration with Rady Children’s Hospital, offers 24 beds to provide specialized care for newborns.

The tower also boasts advanced medical facilities, including nine state-of-the-art operating rooms, two of which are designed for robotic-assisted surgeries, and three interventional radiology suites. These additions will significantly enhance the hospital’s capabilities in treating complex conditions such as strokes and brain aneurysms.

As the final phase of a 15-year redevelopment plan, the North Tower is connected to the Prebys Cardiovascular Institute via multiple skybridges, facilitating seamless patient transfers and integrated care. This expansion underscores Scripps’ commitment to providing cutting-edge medical services and reinforces its position as a leader in healthcare innovation.
