Transform Your Independent Medical Practice with LACMA's Makeover Initiative

Our Medical Practice Makeover initiative aims to support small, independent medical practices that meet specific eligibility requirements below. In 2022, 20 practices were selected to receive $5,000 grants, in addition to extensive resources, PPE supplies, and a practice assessment.

The triumph of the initiative in its first year led to its continuation in 2023. This year, a total of $50,000 will be awarded to practices, with three winners announced every quarter. New awardees will receive up to $5,000 and past winners who re-apply and win will receive $2,500. The deadline for Quarter 3 applications is August 25, 2023.

​Eligibility Criteria: 

• Must be an annual LACMA Member
• Must be located in LA County
• All physicians within the practice must be LACMA members in good standing
• Practice does not have any legal liabilities, judgments, liens, or medical board investigations
• Practice must agree to site visit(s) from LACMA staff after grant is awarded 
• Videotaping/interviews to capture impact (before and after)
• A 90 day follow up assessment to chronicle outcome and impact
• Provide data (spreadsheet) on how funds were used. This information will be compiled and used to evaluate future LACMA initiatives. 
• Must be willing to participate in a preliminary 10-minute Zoom interivew or submit a video answering several questions.

​Additional consideration will be given to practices that:

• Serve a severely impacted community
• Laid off or furloughed staff 
• Closed or reduced hours
• Demonstrate, validate economic hardship
• Practice has fewer than 10 providers
